Cam’s Confusion Part 2!

Cam Cameron has done it again. He cost his team a chance at winning a football game by making a dumb decision in the 4th quarter. Last week it was a play call against the Eagles (just scroll down on my blog for that story), and on Monday night it was a bad decision to bypass a field goal in a scoreless game. With less than 10 minutes left in the game, the Dolphins had not come even close to scoring. Yet, with a chance to attempt a 42 yard field goal, Cameron decided it was better to go for it on a 4th and 11 with his rookie QB on a muddy field.

I know what many of you might be thinking: hey, Feeley just had a 37 yard field goal blocked on the play before. You’re right, but the 42 yard kick was actually on a better spot on the field. If you think you’re kicker can make one from 37 yards, why wouldn’t you think he could make one from 42. Feeley tried to tell Cameron that the field on that spot wasn’t as bad, but the coach decided against it. Instead, he sent John Beck out with the offense to try and get a 4th and 11. Predictably, Beck was sacked and the Steelers took over. Miami never moved the ball back even close to scoring position, and Pittsburgh would later kick a field goal to win the game.

Despite being winless, the Dolphins deserved better. They played as hard as possible in awful field conditions against one of the best teams in the NFL. They never quit, and I thought, considering the circumstances, Beck was very solid in his 2nd start. Yes, they deserved better…like say a coach who knew how to make good decisions late in a game.

  1. I don’t know how they could keep him as coach if they go 0 and 16. That’s the worst job possible. Even Wannstedt could do that.

It’s as bad as it can get and he’s a big part of the blame

  2. He was the wrong choice but we have to keep him around for now. You can’t have 3 systems in 3 years with 3 diff coaches.

  3. No way Feely makes that field goal. He had no other choice imo.

  4. WE NEED TO START A FIRE CAMCAMERON.DOT COM

PLEASE WILL! NO MORE FREE PASSES FOR THESE CRUMMY COACHES WAYNE HIRES

  5. Poor play calling? How about blaming the poor field? No way the nfl should have allowed the teams to play on that terrible field. My son’s Pop Warner games are on better fields than that.

The Steelers should be fined for having a field in such poor condition. Even Dolphins statium with the dirt from baseball and rainy days in South Florida has never come close to looking that bad.

Cam hasn’t been great, but Monday night was all on the people in control of that field.

    Go Dolphins and Canes :–)

  6. One thing we can say about the Dolphins…they are probably a few breaks away from winning 3 or 4 games. Wonder how much of that one can blame on the coaching…you know what I mean. I’m only saying…….

  7. hahahahaha. people already want a fire cam website? pleez. the guy is an offensive coach whose only good player on offense in out for the yr. let’s see what he can do this offseason and then we can talk.

  8. Bad calls no doubt, but that’s called making rookie mistakes. Just like John Beck will have his bumps in the road, so will Cam.

You get what you pay for is what comes to my mind. I think the Dolphins front office must know that Cam has never been a head coach in the pros and has plenty of learning to do.

  9. Good point Teddy. I didn’t mention the terrible field in my blog, and I should have. This should never happen in an NFL game. No excuses. It made a huge difference in the game for both teams. That said, it doesn’t change the fact that Cameron keeps making mistakes that cost his team.

    Thanks for writing…

  10. You still don’t think Cam shoud be fired after that crud against the Jets? Maybe you’ll start getting why alot of fans feel that Cam should go. You don’t have to be an pro announcer in sports to see that he’s worthless.

  11. GOOD POINTS OVERALL, BUT YOU SEEM TO CONTRIDICT YOURSELF. YOU SEEM TO THINK HE’S NOT A GOOD COACH, YET YOU THINK HE SHOULDN’T BE FIRED AFTER THIS AWFUL SEASON.

COACHING ISN’T ABOUT GIVING CHANCES. IT’S ABOUT PRODUCTION. CAMERON HASN’T PRODUCED AND IT’S TIME TO MOVE ON. IT WAS A ONE YEAR MISTAKE, BUT NOT EVEN THE BEST COACH IN THE WORLD WOULD HAVE DONE MUCH WITH THIS TEAM.

LET’S NOT WASTE ANOTHER YEAR AND A BAD DRAFT LATER THIS TEAM IS SINKING EVEN FARTHER. LET’S SAVE THE FRANCHISE NOW AND BRING IN A REAL COACH LIKE COWHER OR PARCELLS. THOSE GUYS CAN HAVE THIS WHOLE TEAM BACK IN BUSINESS WITHIN A COUPLE OF YEARS.

DOLPHIN FANS ARE SICK OF LOSING SO PLEASE GET THIS MESSAGE OUT TO WAYNE. STOP THE INSANITY!
