Marlins New Stadium on track…

I took a tour of the Marlins new stadium this afternoon, and I must say, I was very impressed with the place. Simply put, it was amazing to look at. Granted, it’s costing close to a half-a-billion dollars to build, but it’ll likely be one of the most impressive home parks in all of baseball when complete.
The site lines to watch are all great, and the park has a real intimate feel. The upper deck feels like it’s right on the field, so most fans in the 37,000 seat stadium will have good views of the action. Marlins owner Jeffrey Loria told me the stadium was on target to be ready for March of 2012. Remember, the Marlins wouldn’t play there in a regular season game until April of 2012, so basically, it’s right on target. As for the players, a handful of guys were there and took batting practice. Of course, the people shagging the balls were construction workers, but that didn’t stop players from being in awe. Mike Stanton told me, “this place is awesome.” He then went ahead and hit a home run that landed on what will be a cat-walk in left-center field. It bounced right out of the stadium. The reaction about the stadium was similar from Hanley Ramirez, Logan Morrison and Gaby Sanchez. You can see the place for yourself in some of the pictures I took today. Here’s the link below:
